Commissioners Approve REAP Grant Application, More

The Washington County Commissioners approved several items during their regularly scheduled meeting on Monday morning.

A resolution authorizing application for financial assistance from the Rural Economic Action Plan (REAP) Fund for the Oglesby Volunteer Fire Department has been approved. Commissioner Mike Dunlap said the $40,000 REAP request was from Charles Cunningham for a new or used 2000 model tanker truck that would hold 2,000 gallons of water. That item was approved on a 3-0 vote.

A final resolution conveyance and a quite claim deed with the City of Dewey regarding 2.39 acres just north of the Washington County Fairgrounds was unanimously approved by the Commissioners as well. Commissioner Mitch  Antle said they would transfer the property over to the City of Dewey.

A request for allocation of the alcoholic beverage tax from the Washington County Treasurer would be approved later in the meeting. Commissioner Antle said the allocated amount came in at $18,691.41. He said that would distributed among all the cities and towns in Washington County.

Then, as an item of new business, the Commissioners approved a contract with RECO Construction in order for courtroom renovations to begin at the Washington County Courthouse in downtown Bartlesville. Project Architect Dan Keleher said the work could begin in a month or so.

The Washington County Commissioners meet on the second floor of the County Administration Building, 400 S. Johnstone Avenue, every Monday at 9:30 a.m. However, the Commissioners meet on 9:00 a.m. on the first Monday of every month as well.

The next meeting will be held on Monday, Sept. 27, at 9:30 a.m.
