After weeks of uncertainty, Pawhuska has a new city manager. In a meeting Thursday, the Pawhuska City Council acknowledged the retirement of long time city manager Paul McAlexander. McAlexander had served as city manager for 10 years before facing charges in Osage County District Court for obstruction of a public officer. After city attorney Jesse Worten III was allegedly involved in a drunk driving incident, police video allegedly shows McAlexander telling the officer to take Worten to jail until Worten's wife could get him. After the video was released to the public, McAlexander was put on a two-week suspension. Now Chamber of Commerce Director Michael McCartney will fill the position of city manger on an interim basis. In an interview with Bartlevsille Radio, McCartney says he wants to look to the future.
A search for a new city manager is expected in the next few months. At this time, McCartney says he may apply for the position if he fits in.
McAlexander was in court Thursday where he pleaded not guilty to the obstruction charge. McAlexander's next court date is set for October 30th.
