The Women’s College World Series will begin on Thursday in Oklahoma City and there will be some heavy state of Oklahoma flavor at the event.

OU is in its seventh straight WCWS. Sooners got there after a tremendous come-from-behind win over Clemson on Saturday.

Oklahoma trailed by three before getting a three-run homer in the seventh inning to tie it. Sooners got a solo homer in the ninth that would end up winning it. It was the 48th win in a row for Oklahoma softball, which set an NCAA Softball record. The win also came on head coach Patty Gasso’s birthday.

Gasso talks about the resilience of her club.

OU enters the tournament as the heavy favorite to win it all. Sooners face Stanford in the opening round at 1:30 tomorrow, a game we will carry for you on Sports Talk 1500 AM and 99.1 FM – KPGM.

Oklahoma State also begins the World Series on Thursday night at 6:00 against Florida State. After losing 11 of 13 before the NCAA Tournament, the Cowgirls have won five in a row to streak to their fourth straight WCWS appearance.

We will have the Oklahoma State softball game on Sports Talk 99.1 FM – KPGM, as well.
