Trojans Looking to Regroup After Loss in Opener

The Caney Valley Trojans will have a chance to regroup after convincing loss to Barnsdall, 50-14, to open the season last Friday. The Trojans have a bye week before returning to their non-district slate with Oklahoma Union on September 7.

The Trojans obliged Christian Colbert’s request to move from quarterback to running back and Colbert didn’t disappoint in his first game at the new position. The senior playmaker ran for 146 yards on 12 carries helping the offense get on the board for a couple of scores late in the game.

Trojans head coach Stephen Mitchell was happy with his team’s efforts but he expects to do some tinkering during the bye week.

Caney Valley will also get a few players back that were banged up and couldn’t play in the opener.

The Trojans will play non-district games against OKU and Liberty before gearing up for a challenging slate of games in 2A District 3.

You can hear a full interview with Coach Mitchell every Tuesday at 5:50 p.m. on KWON AM 1400—FM 93.3. All coach’s corner interviews are also archived under the sports tab at BartlesvilleRadio.com
