Playoff Time Upcoming For Wesleyan Christian

Wesleyan Christian is entering the final stretch of regular season games before the Mustangs participate in the Oklahoma Christian Schools playoffs in mid-Feburary. The Mustangs went 1-2 last week, playing in a tournament at Class A powerhouse, Glencoe. Mustang head coach Jeff Holley talks about the week.

Wesleyan Christian lost to 2A school Hominy, beat Olive and then lost to another 2A club, Yale. The game against Yale was a "heartbreaker" according to Holley. The Mustangs out preformed Yale in almost every statistical category, except free-throws. The Mustangs attempted three in the loss. Yale had 28 chances from the line. Holley speaks about what lessons that can teach his club.

Conditioning may be one area that the Mustangs can improve upon going forward. Holley's style of playing, pressing and trapping, may contribute to lame-legs toward the end of games. Rubber legs means less defense and more fouling. That is especially true in tournaments, and the last game of tournaments, like Wesleyan Christian had against Yale.

Only four games remain for Wesleyan Christian on its regular schedule, two of those games are this week. The Mustangs travel to Riverfield and Woodland on Thursday and Friday respectively. Holley's team is the three-seed in the Oklahoma Christian bracket, which includes more than 16 teams competing for its own title. The Mustangs will tip off against Lawton Christian on Feb. 13 in round one of those playoffs.

The first few days of the week now give Holley a chance to work on a few things during practice that Wesleyan needs to work on.
