Pawhuska Sweeps Hominy in Battle of the Osage

It was a clean sweep for the Pawhuska Huskies, as both the boys and girls got convincing wins over Hominy as the Battle of the Osage shifted to the basketball court on Tuesday night. The boys controlled the game throughout and finished with a 59-45 win and the girls started slow, but got an impressive 57-27.
The ladies were down 8-0 minutes into the game, but after a timeout by Coach David Cash, Pawhuska went on to outscore the Lady Bucks 14-1 in the remainder of the first quarter and led by five. McKenna Justus connected on four three-pointers, including this one at the end of the first half to give the Lady Huskies a 32-18 lead going into halftime.
Justus led all scorers with 12 points.
The boys had to hold off many rallies from the Hominy Bucks, but were able to get the easy win. Leading 28-16 with under a minute to go in the first half, back-to-back three's trimmed the deficit to six going into half. The Huskies were also able to extend their lead to 39-28 midway through the third quarter, but Hominy cut the lead to three, again on consecutive threes.
It was Mason Gilkey who led all scorers with 16 points, but this bucket from Noah Wilson to end the third set the tone for the remainder of the game.
The girls are a perfect 5-0, while the boys improve to 2-3 on the year.
