The Pawhuska Huskies rolled through Caney Valley in an elimination game in the district playoffs on Friday night, 70-38. The Huskies led wire-to-wire to earn a date with Nowata on Saturday night.

Pawhuska jumped out on 13-3 run to start the contest and never looked back. The Huskies did not shoot the ball very well but cleaned up several misses for putback buckets. The Pawhuska defense put pressure on the Trojans all night long. This turnover led to a three-pointer from Tell Richardson.

Caney Valley reduced the lead to 11 late in the second quarter but two three-pointers from Evan Frye restored the lead. Frye had a game-high 19 points. Pawhuska led 34-18 at the break. The Trojans would not cut into the lead in the second half. Bryer Kramer led the Trojans with 12 points.

Caney valley’s season ends at 13-10. Meanwhile Pawhuska will play No. 14 Nowata at 8 p.m. Coverage on KRIG 104.9 FM.
