OSU, OU, ORU All Dancing

It was Selection Monday for the NCAA Baseball Tournament on Monday, and all three of our in-state Division One schools are going dancing.

OU was one of the last four teams in the field according to the committee, but the Sooners are in via a good RPI and a solid non-conference strength of schedule.

OU is the three-seed in the Charlottesville, Virginia Regional hosted by the Virginia Cavaliers. Sooners first round game will be against the No. 2 seed East Carolina. The Pirates won the American Athletic Conference regular season title. That game will air at 6:00 on Friday night. Army is the No. 4 seed in the four-team tournament.

Meanwhile Oklahoma State will host a regional with some familiar names in it. Pokes have a first-round matchup with Oral Roberts, who beat the Cowboys during their only two matchups during the regular season. Once in Stillwater and once in south Tulsa.

Last year’s Stillwater Regional was wacky, with Arkansas winning a bunch of wild high-scoring games to advance to the Supers.

ESPN alluded to that during the program announcing the bracket on Monday morning.

Elsewhere Dallas Baptist and Washington are the other two teams opposite the Cowboys and Golden Eagles.

Dallas Baptist is also a familiar name, as they beat Oklahoma State during the regular season as well. Overall, the Cowboys are 1-3 against teams in their own Regional.

Pokes and ORU on Friday night at 6:00 from O’Brate Stadium in Stillwater.
