OKWU Preps for Thursday Round of 16 Matchup

Oklahoma Wesleyan men’s hoops is enjoying some deserved time off after back-to-back 18-point wins in the first two rounds of the NAIA tournament in Wichita. The Eagles started off their postseason run with a win over Peru State last Friday before turning around to beat Mid-America Christian on Saturday.

Oklahoma Wesleyan faced some adversity though against the Evangels on Saturday when D.J. Talton Jr. fouled out with over six minutes left in the game. Mid-America Christian took advantage and cut Wesleyan’s lead down to single digits before the Eagles closed the game out on a 10-0 run.

Eagle Head Coach Donnie Bostwick talks about his teams play through the adversity.

Last season ended for Wesleyan in the Round of 32, much earlier than most expected it to end. With that, came some added motivation this season to try and push past that point and make it to the Round of 16.

Bostwick details how getting here is just one aspect to the end goal.

Oklahoma Wesleyan will do battle with Central Baptist (Ark.) on Thursday at 3 pm from Kansas City when they try to punch their ticket to the round of eight teams on Saturday. You will be able to listen to that game Thursday on Sports Talk 99.1 FM KPGM.
