Oklahoma Wesleyan men’s basketball has come to an end after the Eagles fell to the Central Baptist Mustangs, 84-79 in the Round of 16. This game was close throughout its entirety, as the game went back and forth multiple times. OKWU trailed at the end of the first half before taking a lead in the second half that they would hold for over 10 minutes.

The first half was a close one and Dylan Phillip got things started early after he knocked down a couple of three pointers, including this one.

Wesleyan would go into the half down by one at 36-35. Into the second half, OKWU got things going and took advantage of some missed shots to help build a consistent second half lead.

Under six minutes left to play, Kaleb Stokes pulled up and knocked a huge three to extend the Eagle lead to 10 at 75-65.

After that bucket things immediately started to come down for 2-seeded Wesleyan. The Mustangs hit scored seven-straight points in under a minute to cut the lead to three before finally taking a lead they would never relinquish.

Central Baptist would close out the game on a 19-4 run in the final five minutes to snag victory from the jaws of defeat and punch their ticket to the Round of Eight on Saturday. For OKWU, their season comes to an end as do the careers of Kaleb Stokes and Taylen Miller.

Stokes would finish with a team high and a near season high of 23-points to grab our player of the game honors.

The Eagles finish their season at 31-3 with a conference regular season and conference tournament title.
