The Oklahoma Wesleyan basketball teams earned another split on the road at Bethel College on Wednesday night. The Lady Eagles lost, 67-66 while the men won, 78-64.

The Lady Eagles played a back-and-forth contest and ultimately lost on a free throw with less than a second left in the contest. OKWU trailed 66-60 with three minutes left in the contest. Danae Goodwin and Amanda Hart each had buckets to bring the game level. Goodwin and Hart were each in double figures in the narrow loss.

The OKWU women have now lost two in a row in Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference play. The Lady Eagles are 10-6 overall and 6-5 in conference.

The men's team came out with stifling defense to knock off the 20th-ranked Threshers on the road. OKWU limited Bethel to 18 percent shooting in the first half. The Eagles closed the half on a 10-0 run to lead 36-24 after the first 20 minutes of action.

Bethel's shooting picked up, but the Eagles still held them down in the second half. Brooks Haddock and Lance Tipton combined for 35 points in the win. The Eagles shot 49 percent as a team. OKWU is now tied for second in the KCAC after the upset win. The Eagles are 13-4 overall and 8-3 in KCAC play.
