One of the biggest basketball games of the year locally, if not the biggest, on Friday night from Wichita, as Oklahoma Wesleyan begins its journey in the NAIA National Tournament.

Eagles will take on Peru State in the opening round of the event. A win on Friday would put Wesleyan in the round of 32 in Wichita on Saturday night - A loss would end their season.

OKWU is a No. 2 seed in the 64-team tournament. Eagles enter at 29-2, they have been ranked in the top-10 in the country nearly all season.

Different this season from last, Oklahoma Wesleyan’s health. Eagles enter the national tournament in great shape. Head coach Donnie Bostwick talks about the status of his team.

Last year Oklahoma Wesleyan was banged up heading into the tournament, which may have led to a second-round exit.

As far as Peru State, the Bobcats have multiple wins over teams that gave OKWU fits this season. They also bring in a large starting five. Peru State won the Heart of America Conference Tournament last week to qualify. They are a 15-seed.

Bostwick talks about the matchup.

It has been a long layoff for the Eagles, who nearly had two weeks off between games after winning the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament a week ago Monday.

Bostwick says his team is fired up and ready to go.

A 6:00 tip from Friends University in Wichita. We will have the play-by-play free of charge on KWON – AM 1400, FM 93.3 and 95.1. It will also be simulcast on Sports Talk 99.1 FM – KPGM. Pregame should start around 5:45.

Mid-America Christian and Hastings, Nebraska are the two teams opposite the Eagles and Peru State. That game will be played at 8:00 on Friday evening with the winners meeting in the round of 32 on Saturday evening also at 6:00 from Friends in Wichita.
