The Oklahoma Wesleyan men’s basketball team loaded into the upstairs area of the Mueller Sports Arena to watch the NAIA tournament selection show to find out their seed and opponent. The Eagles were given a two-seed in the in the Wichita regional after a 29-2 regular season record combined with a conference regular season title and tournament championship.

A two-seed means they’ll meet up with a 15-seed in the first round. The Eagles drew the (20-13) Peru State Bobcats, a team that has battled with three mutual opponents this season in Bethel, Kansas Wesleyan, and MidAmerica Nazerene.

Eagle Head Coach Donnie Bostwick shared his thoughts on the matchup.

The Eagles were given the two-seed behind a team in Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) that finished the regular season at 26-4, three less wins and two more losses than OKWU.

Bostwick says there is some extra motivation with that, but they are still focused on the same goal.

Eagles now wait until next Friday for a 6 pm tip from Friends University in the first round of the NAIA national tournament.
