Oklahoma Union Hoops Continues to Make History

The fourth-ranked Oklahoma Union boy's basketball team continues to reach new heights. The Cougars were crowned the champions of the Oologah tournament on Saturday. This is the first time OKU has won multiple tournaments in the same season. The Cougars also won the Ty Hewitt Memorial Tournament in December

OKU beat three opponents from higher classifications inlcuding 5A No. 18 Pryor. The Cougars also topped 4A Oologah in the tournament title game.Cougars head coach Lee Ott talks about the tournament weekend.

Senior Jace Hollingshead was named MVP of the tournament. Hollingshead registered a double-double by scoring over 10 points and nabbing 10 steals in the semifinal win over Pryor. He was also the Hewitt tournament MVP.

The Cougars are currently 10-0 on the season. OKU has games against Caney Valley and Kiefer before a late-January trip to Fort Gibson for another premier tournament.
