Bad weather around the area forced postponements of every regional basketball matchup. However, action is slated to begin on Friday. The long-awaited Nowata regional is finally here.

The Ironmen will be taking on a tough opponent in Wyandotte as it looks to continue its postseason run.

The Irommen knocked off Caney Valley In the district playoffs last Friday, 58-to-40. Wyandotte is a familiar opponent as the Ironmen knocked them off in the semifinals of the NEO tournament 93-to-61. Ironmen head coach Gary Hollingshead talks about the impact of hosting a regional.

A win in this game would put Nowata through to the area tournament.

The Ironmen have a 19-and-4 record on the regular season. All of those losses have come to teams of a higher classification.

Coverage of the Ironmen and the Bears in regional action can be heard on KRIG 104.9 FM. Tip off at eight oh clock this evening.

The Ironmen's rival will also continue in postseason competition on Friday.

The Dewey Bulldoggers also will begin regional play with a matchup against OKC Millwood in the Glenpool regional.

The Doggers will have their hands full against a battle-tested opponent. The Falcons come in with a 17-6 record with nearly half of their schedule being comprised of ranked opponents.

Dewey head coach Lance Knight knows that Millwood is an athletic powerhouse.

The Doggers are riding high after a district playoff victory over Cascia Hall, 82-to-55, last Friday. Dewey’s top scorers Caston Frye and Blayz Rippy combined for 52 points in the win.

Dewey and Millwood will tipoff in regional play from Glenpool at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
