Nowata Survives Dewey for Season Sweep

It was closer than expected for Nowata on Tuesday evening, but the Ironmen topped their rivals in Dewey, 70-62.

Nowata boys sweep the season series over their rival Doggers. 

Nowata led by as many as 14 in the second half, but could not put the Doggers away. Dewey fought all the way within six in the final minutes, but could get no closer. This Colby Miller runner got Dewey within seven down the stretch.

Nowata continued its frantic pace with the lead, but ended up holding on. Mark Price led all scorers with 22 points. Trenton Smith added in 18. On the Dewey side, three Doggers were in double-figures. Jake LaSpisa and Jacob Mouser each had 18. Kaleb Hull added 12.

The 62 points Dewey scored is 15 more than the Doggers have had in any other game.

Dewey drops to 1-6. Nowata is 8-1. Doggers will host Pawhuska tomorrow night in another game we will have on KRIG 104.9 on Thursday night. Ironmen next have Chelsea at home on Friday.

Dewey girls earned the split, beating Nowata on ladies side, 53-38. Nowata girls won the first matchup.
