Nowata Basketball Season Wrap Up

Nowata Basketball came to an end in the regional consolation game back towards the end of February when they fell to Colcord, 55-48. For the Ironmen, it was an up and down season that ended to the same team that they beat in a district title game just eight days before then.

Nowata will know see four seniors graduate this spring, with two being multiple year starters for the Ironmen in Kaleb Bashford and Michael Prince. Kaed Freeman and Spencer Bullen also wrapped up their high school basketball careers. Head Coach Derick Ott talks about his senior class.

While they will lose very important pieces from this year’s team, especially in Kaleb Bashford who ended his career with over 1,000 points, the Ironmen return a bevy a players. Five of their seven rotation players will all be back next season, with only two being seniors.

Coach Ott talks about the years to come.

The Ironmen wrap up their season at 12-15 overall with a district title win over Colcord, and a regional playoff win over Afton.

The girls ended their season at 12-14 with a regional win over Haworth and a loss to Afton in a regional elimination contest. A nice ending for a team that lost two starters throughout the season.
