No MLB - Yet

We have local baseball, but no national baseball, and it does not look like Major League Baseball and the players are going to agree to a deal anytime in the near future.

The latest offer from the owners on Friday reportedly includes 80-percent of the players already pro-rated salaries and a 72-game season, which would now start in the middle of July.

Players have said this entire process that they will refuse to play for anything else than 100-percent of their already prorated salaries.

It is looking more likely by the day that the owners will institute a significantly-shortened season to get baseball started in some capacity.

Something in the range of 50-games has been talked about.

The MLB can set the schedule, and the players would have to play under their last agreement. However, ESPN insider Jeff Passan says that doesn’t mean they will be happy about it.

It is looking like the earliest the MLB could start up would be in the range of July 15, and that is assuming a deal is inked quickly.

The players have until Sunday to respond to the latest offer.
