Lady Bruins State Bound - Top Shawnee

For the first time since 1992, the Bartlesville High girl's basketball team is headed for State.

The Lady Bruins topped Shawnee 34-32 in the 6A Area Consolation Bracket Finals. BHS rebounded after falling to Sand Springs on Thursday in the Winner's Bracket Finals.

Defense was the name of the game, as the Lady Bruins held the Lady Wolves to only six points in the first half, and led 13-6 at the break. BHS extended its lead to 11 midway through the third quarter before Shawnee made things interesting.

Another Bartlesville scoring drought allowed Shawnee back in the game. The run culminated in the Lady Wolves tying BHS with 12 seconds remaining. However, Shawnee would foul Jena' Williams in the backcourt. Williams made the free throws, and Bartlesville hung on for a two-point win.

State will start on Thursday, bracket TBA. The Lady Bruins are 26-1.
