Nowata Ironmen has a new football coach.  School officials promoted Defensive Coordinator Cory James to the head football position.  James has been in Nowata for several years as the defensive coordinator under then head coach Matt Hagebusch.  This is James' first head football coach job, though he served as Interim Head Coach in the 2010 season.  James is excited about getting things started.

James will also handle the offensive and according to James, not much change in the coaching staff.

James replaces Matt Hagebusch, who took the head football job at Claremore-Sequoyah.  Nowata reached the playoffs for the past four seasons, reaching the Class 2A State Championship game.  The Ironmen finished the 2015 season with a 7-4 record.
