Indians Split with Bandits

There was more late-game dramatics against Three-Rivers on Wednesday night.

Bartlesville split with the Bandits in their final double-header against Three-Rivers this season. The Doenges Ford Indians took game one, 10-4, but lost game two, 8-0.

The Indians and Bandits were tied at four in game one entering the ninth inning when Chase Fiddler broke the game open. Fiddler hit a grand slam home run over the fence in left center field to give B’Ville an 8-4 lead. Bartlesville never turned back.

Fiddler was involved in another play that defined the first game. With Three Rivers down to its final six outs and the Indians leading 4-3, Isaac Isham lined a ball to deep left field off of Nolan Schaper to begin the bottom of the sixth. Fiddler, the left fielder, smacked into the wall. It appeared that he might have been injured, as Isham rounded the bases and scored on an inside-the-park home run. The game was tied, 4-4.

Fiddler bounced up off the track and stayed in the ballgame – and it was a good thing he did. His grand slam, and fourth home run of the season, started the six-run ninth for the Indians, who won their 23rd game in extra innings.

Will Hefner threw two scoreless innings out of the bullpen to earn his second win of the season. Schaper kept the Indians ahead for the majority of his start. He went seven innings and gave up four runs on eight hits. Indian pitching gave up no walks in the nine frames.

Garrett Glass shut down the Indians in game two of the twin bill. He only gave up one hit in his six innings. The Bandits scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth to run-rule Bartlesville.

The Indians are 23-12 after the split and will play four games against Okmulgee on Friday and Saturday at Bill Doenges Memorial Stadium. Games will be at 6:00 on Friday and 12:00 on Saturday.
