It was senior night on Tuesday night in Pawhuska, as the Huskies took on the Pawnee Blackbears. The Lady Huskies had faced Pawnee three times earlier in the season and held a 2-1 edge entering the final regular season matchup. Pawhuska can now say they have won the season series after getting a 51-40 victory. On the guys’ side, it was all Pawnee, as the Blackbears won, 54-38.

It was a quick start for both the Lady Huskies and Lady Blackbears on Tuesday night, as Pawhuska led 9-6 at the midway mark of the first quarter and held a 14-11 lead at the end of the first. Pawnee took the lead at 23-19 with three minutes left in the first half, but an 8-0 run to end the half gave Pawhuska a four point lead at the break.

With the game tied at 23, the freshman McKenna Justus made this heads up to play to give Pawhuska the lead and from there, they would not look back.

Pawhuska held a commanding 41-28 lead going into the fourth quarter before getting the 11-point win. Hannah Reynolds and Maya Curry each finished in double-figures.

On the guys’ side, Pawhuska fell behind 10-0 early and didn’t score until Noah Wilson converted on an old fashioned three-point play with just under two minutes two go in the first quarter. The Huskies trailed 15-5 entering the second quarter and it was Wilson who scored the first seven of the game for Pawhuska.

The Blackbears extended their lead to 16 midway through the second quarter and led 28-14 at intermission. From there, they never looked back as they cruised to the 16-point win.

Pawhuska will now host Mounds in the District Championship game. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
