It was a good start to the 2017 summer baseball season for the Doenges Ford Indians.

The Indians swept the Ada A’s during their season opener Friday evening at Bill Doenges Memorial Stadium. The Indians won the first game 11-0 in five innings, then took the second game 2-1.

Bartlesville pitching allowed just one run over the 12 innings of play, as Corey Murphy, Nolan Schaper and Grant Yardley had great days on the mound.

Murphy was the winner in game one, he threw the complete game five-innings in the shutout. Schaper and Yardley combined for game two, with Schaper going the first three innings for the win, and Yardley the final four for the save. Here was the call of the final out of the twin bill from Max Gross as heard on KWON.

Indians are off to a 2-0 start.

Bartlesville’s American Legion baseball team hosts Ada again Saturday afternoon.

A 1:00 first pitch from Bill Doenges in two more games we will have on KWON – AM 1400 and FM 93.3.
