Dewey Splits With Caney Valley, KS

The Dewey Bulldoggers and Lady Doggers concluded their regular season Tuesday night at Caney, KS taking on the Caney Valley Bullpups.  Lady Doggers comeback fell short as Caney Valley won 52-49 while the Doggers won 69-56.

Lady Doggers trailed 32-24 going into the fourth period and that's when the comeback started. Dewey outscored Caney Valley 25-20, but came up short as Caney Valley made their free throws down the stretch.  Karissa Jones and Kennedy Cleveland led Dewey with 11 points a piece while Addison Moll and Emily Sellers added 10 points a piece.  Caney Valley's Kolbi McIntosh led with 20 points.  

In the boys game, Dewey played the best fourth quarter by far this season as they outscored the Bullpups 21-13 to pick up their 11th win of the year.  Most the game was close as both teams were tied at halftime 32 a piece.  Dewey's Caston Frye led with 18 points while Drew Miller and Kameron Hayes added 16 points a piece.  Caney Valley's Grant Richey led with 26 points while Baylor Melchiori finished with eight points.  

Both Dewey teams will begin post season play this Friday at Kansas for the District Championship. Girls play at 6:30 and the boys play at 8 o'clock.  You can hear the boys game on KRIG 104.9 FM.
