Dewey Hoping to Get Past Early Struggles

The early parts of the basketball season continue to frustrate for the Dewey Bulldoggers. So far Dewey has only been able to play two games, both losses. The Doggers dealt with bouts of COVID-19 that depleted their preseason and most recently a game on Friday had to be canceled due to a positive test.

Dewey has felt the effects of the virus not only in missed games and practices but also it has been difficult when the team has gotten a chance to take the court. The Doggers are 0-2 with losses to Locust Grove and Oklahoma Union. Dewey head coach Lance Knight explains the struggles.

The Doggers are hopeful that they can notch some practice sessions before the New Year. Dewey will play a makeup game with Nowata on Jan 2. Then the Doggers will face some stiff competition in the Oologah tournament beginning on Jan. 7.

Select Dewey basketball games can be heard on KRIG 104.9 FM in 2021.
