Dewey Basketball Wrap-Up

Dewey Basketball has come to a close, as both guys and girls squads fell at Checotah over the past weekend. For both squads, it was an improvement from the previous season as both teams finished with more overall wins and playoff wins than the season prior.

On the guys side, they finish the season at 16-12 with a regional consolation championship loss to the Catoosa Indians, 57-27. Dewey guy’s head coach Lance Knight talked about the loss to the Indians.

While it was a tough way to end the season, it is not lost on Knight how well of a season the Doggers had in 2023-24. Dewey went 8-0 in Northeast Valley Conference play to finish as conference champions and finished 5-1 at home.

Knight talks about the season as a whole.

For Dewey, they will say goodbye to seniors Jace Williams, Zaiden Masters, Haven Becker, Trae Collins, and Zane Griggs.

On the girls side, it was a season of growth for an extremely young team contrived of just one senior in Maci Rogers. The Dewey girls won just 5 games in the 2022-23 season in year one under Michael Sanders, and year two showed some very promising results.

The Dewey girls end their season at 10-17 with a loss to Madill in a regional elimination game. Congrats to both Bulldogger squads on a stellar season.
