Friday night offers an intriguing area battle between Dewey and Caney Valley from Ramona. For the Trojans this game will be a nice test ahead of the 27th annual Caney Valley Tournament set to start on Monday. For Dewey it’s a chance to put a notch in the win column against another tough area foe.

Caney Valley has played its best basketball in the last handful of years so far this season. The Trojans are 8-2 on the year with a tournament victory in Welch already on the board. Caney Valley head coach Tug Brinker credits the success to an emphasis on up-tempo basketball.

The Doggers are 2-7. Dewey was edged out by Sperry 41-39 in yet another tight loss on Wednesday. Five of Dewey’s losses have come against teams that are ranked or in higher classifications. Despite the lopsided record Dewey has been getting great contributions from senior Hayden Thornton. Dewey head coach Lance Knight explains.

Radio coverage can be heard on KRIG 104.9 FM. Pregame at 7:45 p.m.
