Bruins Face Claremore to Begin 2019

Bartlesville High will begin the Jason Sport Era of Bruin football on Friday evening, as the Claremore Zebras visit Custer Stadium.

It has been a long time coming for Sport, who has spent 16 seasons as an assistant head coach, but has his first as a head coach on Friday.

He has been on the job since December. Bartlesville had the luxury of going through two scrimmages in August because of not playing during zero week. Sport says the scrimmages did his club some good.

Claremore is coming off a couple straight seasons of winning a playoff game. The Zebras made the 5A Quarterfinals a year ago. Claremore returns its top two wide receivers, a division one running back and its quarterback from a 7-5 team in 2018. Sport says that he would like to see the Bruins achieve the level of success in 6A-II that the Zebras have had in 5A.

BHS won this matchup a year ago in Lee Blankenship’s opener as a Bruin. It was a 21-14 win in Claremore.

A 7:00 PM kick with a 6:30 pregame on broadcasted on KWON – AM 1400 and FM 93.3.

Don’t forget that Friday is also the debut of KWON TV, as you can watch the Bruins online. Go to KWONTV.com to sign up.
