The Bartlesville High track and field teams seasons will mimick trainng for a race - as they start out slow and start to ramp up toward the end of the season.

BHS has competed at Owasso to begin the 2018 campaign, and then the Bruins hosted their own meet at Custer Stadium before Spring Break.

No more action for BHS track and field until late next week, so the athletes will have about three weeks between competitions. Nearly 900 athletes were on hand for the track meet Bartlesville hosted during the first weekend in March. It coincided with the GAC Tournament at Bruin Fieldhouse. Bruin head track and field coach David Ayers says it was a success any way you look at it.

As for the athletes, Ayers expects distance runners to again steal the show, Liza Williams and Jillian Skalicky will be a couple of the the runners for the Lady Bruins. Trinity Parker came in from basketball and took second in both high jump and long jump in her first meet.

Spencer Hales, Caleb Eiden, Tyler Lithicum and others will be solid long distance runners for the guys as well.

Next Bartlesville track meet will be on March 30 at Broken Arrow.

Ayers said BHS will bascially have a meet every week from now until the end of the season in mid-May.
