Bartlesville High baseball picked up a big-time win behind a great performance from a new District starting pitcher in the Bruin’s District opener.

BHS topped Moore 1-0 on Monday evening at Bill Doenges Memorial Stadium.

The Bruins were able to get a seven-inning complete game shutout from Barrett Merciez. The sophomore went the distance, allowing five hits, no runs, three strikeouts and two walks.

The Bruins managed only three hits but did enough on offense to grab the win. Another newbie, Hunter Shae, doubled in a run in the bottom of the fifth for the only tally of the game.

Bartlesville improves to 2-1 and will return the trip to Moore on Tuesday night for game two of the District set.

First pitch at 6:00.
