Bruin Baseball Eyes Losing Streak

The Bartlesville baseball team has continued its streaky ways.

The Bruins will try to end their four-game losing streak on Monday night at Bill Doenges Memorial Stadium against Bixby. BHS lost four straight district games, to two of the best teams in the eastern part of the state, last week.

Broken Arrow swept BHS in a double header on Tuesday, then Bartlesville dropped back-to-back games to Union on Friday and Saturday.

BA and Union are the top two teams in 6A-3, as well. Bartlesville will try its luck against the middle-of-the-pack Spartans on Monday, then at Bixby on Tuesday.

The most discouraging performances for BHS were the final two games against Union. Bartlesville out-hit the Redskins during its game on Friday. However, Bartlesville walked eight Redskins, and allowed two unearned runs on three errors, ultimately losing 9-3.

Bartlesville's inhibility to score continued on Saturday, when the Bruins tallied five hits, but only scored one run. BHS lost the second game 8-1.

The big-time win has evaded Bartlesville thus far. The Bruins have beaten Bixby, Sapulpa, Sand Springs, Muskogee, Ponca City and several non-district foes. The BHS district schedule was front-loaded with Bishop Kelly, Broken Arrow and Union.

BHS hopes that district games against teams that aren’t perennial powerhouses will lead to a streak of wins toward the end of the season. Bartlesville only has eight games remaining.

Tuesday’s game against Bixby marks the second-to-last home game for Bartlesville. The Bruins will host Enid on April 27 for senior night.

You can hear Tuesday's game against Bixby on KWON 1400 AM, 93.3 FM starting with the first pitch around 7:00. The game will also be available here at BartlesvilleRadio.com
