Bostwick Talks Eagles in Final 16 of NAIA

Not a ton of time to rest for Oklahoma Wesleyan men’s basketball, as the Eagles will get set to head to Kansas City for the Final 16 of the NAIA National Tournament on Wednesday.

Wesleyan’s first game is on Thursday afternoon.

Eagles got there with two convincing wins in Wichita, Kansas in the first and second round on Friday and Saturday.

Following an 18-point win over Mid-America Christian on Saturday, Eagle head coach Donnie Bostwick talked about his team’s play this past weekend.

The main challenge for the Eagles on Saturday was continuing to run ahead of the Evangels without their best player on the floor most of the game. Wesleyan starting point guard DJ Talton Jr. was sidelined with foul trouble for nearly 20 minutes. He fouled out of the game with about six minutes left.

After Mid-America cut the once 23-point lead to eight, Oklahoma Wesleyan got a monster and-one bucket from Jaden Lietzke. Bostwick talks about that play.

The trip to the Final 16 in Kansas City is extra sweet for this OKWU team after losing in the round of 32 a year ago. Nearly the same core returned and got them back to KC.

The Central Baptist Mustangs out of Arkansas will face Oklahoma Wesleyan at 3:00 on Thursday afternoon. Mustangs are 27-6 on the year. They won the America-Midwest Conference Tournament.

We will have that game on Thursday for you on Sports Talk 99.1 FM and 1500 AM – KPGM. Pregame around 2:40.
