A big event for the Bartlesville Sports Commission is coming up this weekend – as the 2017 Bartlesville Sports Hall of Fame Class will be officially inducted.

The inductees were announced back in the spring. This year’s team is the 1980 College High baseball squad, which beat Sooner High in the State Championship game. The coach is Joe Holladay. Holladay coached many teams in Bartlesville, including the 1978 golf state championship team. Holladay ended up on Roy William’s staff at both Kansas and North Carolina coaching division one men’s basketball.

The individuals nominated are Doug Tolin – who played basketball at Bartlesville and won an NAIA national title while coaching at Oklahoma Baptist. Also Mike Vaclaw, who was a football player that graduated in 1960. He played for Bud Wilkenson at OU in the early 60s.

And the Community inductee will be Bartlesville Radio, along with former Bartlesville play-by-play man Bill Mingle, who worked at KWON.

We will have coverage of the Gala on Saturday evening from the Hilton Garden Inn.
