It was nothing but a success at Bruin Field House over the weekend, as both the Bartlesville boys and girls basketball teams hosted the annual ConocoPhillips Arvest Invitational with no issues Thursday through Saturday.

All scheduled 23 games took place, the only game cancelled was known before the event started, the 10:00 AM game on Thursday.

The Bartlesville squads weren’t able to get out with winning records. Both BHS teams went 1-2, winning on Thursday, but losing on Friday and Saturday.

The Lady Bruins fell 5A No. 2 Carl Albert 55-36. The Bruin guys lost to No. 10 Bixby 81-46.

So it was fourth place for both clubs.

On the guy’s side, the final score does not indicate how close the contest was throughout the first half. Bartlesville led throughout most of the game’s first 16 minutes.

BHS trailed by six at halftime. Freshman David Castillo was named to the all-tournament team. This basket accounted for two of his 17 points on Saturday.

Castillo has scored 17 or more in every game he’s played as a Bruin thus far.

Bartlesville girls are 2-7. The Bruin guys are 3-6. Both clubs host Booker T. on Tuesday night as Frontier Valley Conference play continues with two double-headers this week.

Carl Albert won the guy’s side of the tournament, while Choctaw won the girls championship.
