We continue our look back at the 2018 calendar year with perhaps the biggest story of the previous 12 months, the Lady Bruin girl's basketball team.

The Bartlesville girls surged to the program’s first state tournament since 1992.

Somehow, even more impressively, BHS started the season at 25-0. Bartlesville swept through the regular season at 23-0, and won both its regional games at Bruin Fieldhouse. Lady Bruin head coach at the time Krista Binam talked about the possible pressure of an undefeated season.19Q

The season would not be without bumps however, as the Lady Bruins would fall to Sand Springs, 50-42, in the Area winner’s bracket before bouncing back to beat Shawnee in the consolation round to advance to 6A State. Bartlesville would then lose to Edmond Santa Fe, 48-42, in the first round of the state tournament after a furious comeback.

In going undefeated in the regular season, not only did Bartlesville win the Frontier Valley Conference, but it also swept through three other state tournament teams in Bixby, Sand Springs and the eventual state champions, Owasso.

Binam would leave BHS for Metro Christian in May, and would be replaced by current head coach Donnie Martin, who left Pryor to come to Bartlesville.
