2018 look Back: Pawhuska Football Back to Winning

BartlesvilleRadio.com continues to highlight some of the best sports stories throughout the area in 2018 as the year is winding down. And on the gridiron, the biggest story of the year may have come from Osage County.

One of the most successful football seasons locally was a bit of a surprise.

Pawhuska went from winless in 2017 to winners in 2018, as first year head coach Matt Hennesy turned the program around on a dime to get them back in the playoffs this past season.

In staunch nine-team district in Class A-5, Pawhuska fought its way to the postseason after not winning a game a year prior.

Not only was that impressive, but the Huskies had only one senior play meaningful snaps for them this season, so basically the entire team returns for 2019. In early November, Hennesy talked about the prospect of making the postseason.

The Huskies would finish out the year at 6-5 after falling to Rejoice Christian, 41-8, in the first round of the Class A playoffs.
