Attorney Searching for Cobell Settlement Beneficiaries
Diane Coston
Attorney David Smith is in Oklahoma looking for people eligible to benefit in a class action lawsuit settled in 2009. The plaintiffs in the case consist of tribes west of the Mississippi. The lawsuit resulted due to the U.S. Government incorrectly accounting for income from Indian trust assets held for individual Native Americans. Though the lawsuit took more than 13 years to settle, Smith said the hardest part is locating the claimants.
Smith said the largest family settlement was $10-million. If you think you might qualify for some of the funds, contact the law firm of Kilpatrick & Townsend at 866-383-6554.
