Many officials of the Cherokee Nation were on hand for the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new Cherokee Casino located in South Coffeyville on Thursday. More than 100 people have been hired to work at the casino. Chief Bill John Baker said that a portion of the gaming profits will be used for health care. He also stated that more Cherokee children are in college now than any time in the history of the tribe. The $10 million development is equipped with 300 electronic games and a dining venue that offers lunch, dinner and cocktail options. The new casino is located off Highway 169 in South Coffeyville.
