At Monday's Osage County Commissioners meeting, the Board was approached by the Osage Nation Health System about the use of a grant that would go toward fighting the opioid problem in Osage County. District Three Commissioner Charlie Cartwright talked about how the grant money would be used.

The goal of the program that the Osage Nation is looking to meet is to service smaller communities throughout Osage County. Peer recovery specialists will be able to serve and help out those in the community as well. Grant and Compliance Manager with the Osage Nation, Megan Mays added that the services will be open for more than just those addicted to opioids.

Osage County District Attorney Mike Fisher let the Board know why he felt like this was a good thing.

The Board opted to sign and approve this grant application with the Osage Nation. Additional services for those who enter this treatment facility will include transitional housing and group therapy.
