The Doenges Ford Indians likely played their final regular season double-header of 2023 on Wednesday night and unfortunately could not pick up a win against Marucci Midwest.

Bartlesville dropped both sides of the twin bill, falling in game one, 5-0, then in game two, 3-1 at Bill Doenges Memorial Stadium in downtown Bartlesville.

The Indians again struggled to swing the bat, as Bartlesville managed only one hit in game one. The Tribe had three hits in the second contest, but only scored one run off a Nik Johnson RBI ground out in the second inning. That was the only tally of the double-header for Bartlesville.

Again, pitching and defense kept the Indians in the games. Cole Hancock threw six scoreless innings in game one before surrendering all five runs in the top of the seventh. The game unraveled after a leadoff home run for Marucci.

In game two Brenden Asher, Grant Clark, Hayden Catlin and Matthew Winters combined to only allow three runs in the contest.

Winters would strike out the side with this K in the bottom of the sixth.

Bartlesville drops beneath .500 for the first time this season with the loss. The Tribe is 14-15-1 on the year with a few off days before next week’s Stan Musial World Series Qualifier.

It will begin on Wednesday night at Bill Doenges Memorial Stadium in downtown Bartlesville.
