Week one of the high school football season is approaching on Friday night, and all the area schools will be playing this weekend.

At Wesleyan Christian School the Mustangs will try to win their opener for the first time since 2019, as WCS heads to Webbers Falls. Webbers Falls has beaten Wesleyan in each of the past two Week One matchups in 2020 and 2021.

It will be a new-look Mustang squad this season, with six seniors graduating off the eight-man club from a year ago. However, the quarterback Tyrel Cloud returns, with some other talented skill players like Kael Siemers.

Head coach Curt Cloud says his club will probably throw the ball more this season than it has in years past.

WCS has only two returning lineman from a season ago, making quarterback and skill position play more important than ever. Cloud cited the need to protect the quarterback if Wesleyan Christian wants to spread the field on Friday night.

Webbers Falls won this game a year ago 40-27.

A 7:00 kickoff on Friday evening.
