ODOT: Northeast District Awarded Best Safety Review
The 2021 Governor’s Safety Excellence Award goes to the Oklahoma Department of Transportation’s (ODOT) eighth district headquartered in Tulsa.
District Eight, led by Engineer Randle White, includes Craig, Creek, Delaware, Mayes, Nowata, Osage, Ottawa, Pawnee, Rogers, Tulsa and Washington counties. The annual award is presented to the ODOT field district with the best overall safety record in the past year.
The northeastern district had seven injuries and only 51 lost days, which is the best performance of any district in the past year. Total accidents, accident severity and lost work days are all taken into consideration in determining the award winner.
At the Oklahoma Transportation Commission’s June 6 meeting, Secretary of Transportation Tim Gatz and ODOT Safety Manager Keith Sorsdal handed out awards to those crews who demonstrated a continued commitment to safety in the past year.
