The fencing at the Dewey Cemetery along Highway 75 north of Dewey will get much needed repairs after a car crashed into it in late-August.

At the time of the accident, Dewey Police Chief Mike Shea said they believed the single vehicle accident occurred as a result of a medical condition suffered by the driver. The driver was later transported to the hospital for examination.

As for the fence itself, approximately 20 poles and 30 railings were damage. The cost to repair the fence is roughly $3,500. Dewey City Manager Kevin Trease says insurance will cover much of the cost, adding the contractor – U Picket Fence – should complete the work in early-October.
