Community Center Receives $5K from Arvest Foundation
The Bartlesville Community Center will be able to make improvements thanks to a $5,000 donation from the Arvest Foundation.
Arvest sales manager Whitney Watson and business development representative Earl Sears presented the check to Val Callaghan, managing director of the Bartlesville Community Center.
“It is our pleasure to present this contribution to the Bartlesville Community Center on behalf of the Arvest Foundation,” said Watson. “Our community is fortunate to have such an outstanding facility that offers a place to gather for events, be immersed in the arts and take part in programming.”
The funds will be used to make improvements in upcoming project needs, such as repairs to the orchestra shell, restoration of two Steinway grand concert pianos and improvements to the north side entrance.
“On behalf of the Bartlesville Community Center Trust Authority, I would like to thank the Arvest Foundation for the gift of $5,000,” said Callaghan. “As the community center enters its 40th anniversary year, it becomes increasingly important to maintain the building and its contents. We simply cannot afford to do so without the added assistance from generous patrons and donors.”
The Bartlesville Community Center opened in 1982 designed by William Wesley Peters, an apprentice to Frank Lloyd Wright, to complement the Price Tower. With a mission to provide cultural and educational facilities and activities to strengthen the culture and economy of the city, the community center has done just that. With performances by orchestras from New York and shows from dancers, actors and musical guests from all over and the home to Broadway in Bartlesville, the Community Center has been bringing the arts to Bartlesville for over 39 years.
The Arvest Foundation seeks to provide funding to grantees who are actively working to create positive change for others. Major areas of focus include: K-12 education, economic development, and enhancing the quality of life throughout the Arvest footprint.
