Oklahoma Union graduate Nate Collier has signed to be a part of the Track & Field program at Abilene Christian University. Collier will throw shotput, discus and hammer as a part of a Division I program with the Wildcats.

Collier was lightly-recruited going into the 2021 spring season. He put up big numbers at the 2A state meet, taking the state title in shotput with a throw of 52-feet one-inch. Collier finished second in discus with a throw of 174-feet five-inches. After the season was over Collier was talking to multiple schools about his future. While at a graduation party he found out that ACU wanted to offer him a full-ride.

He said once he got a chance to tour the ACU campus he knew it was the right fit. The former Cougar had always been interested in attending a Christian school.

Collier said he began practicing his throwing during middle school after his mom pushed him to try it. Two practices into his senior year is when Collier realized he truly had a future in the sport. He said Division I athletics weren’t something that always crossed his mind.

Collier also played on the 2A State Champion Oklahoma Union basketball team. College will start for Collier in mid-August.
