Tom Davis
City Manager Mike Bailey, City Clerk Jason Muninger, Police Chief Tracy Roles and City Engineer Michah Siemers appeared on COMMUNITY CONNECTION on Monday to give us and update on city matters.
City Manager Mike Bailey had some bleak news to share about recyling in the city. The city won't be able to acept your recyclable items until further notice due to a fire at the main facitly in Tulsa.
The reports the city has received is that it could take weeks or even months for the faclity in Tulsa to be fully restored and operational.
Bartlesville city officials recently got a surprise. City Clerk Jason Muninger announced on COMMUNITY CONNECTION on Monday that the city of Bartlesville set a new single-month sales tax collection record.
Muninger said the city of Bartlesville is over $213,000 over any month collected. He said the city collected over $2 millon this month in sales tax making the largest on record.
Muninger also says it appears to have timed up well to the stimulus checks that were sent out.
City Manager Mike Bailey said that what is really impressive is that this happened while still under COVID.
Peace Officer Memorial Day is set for Wednsday, May 12, beginning at noon that day.
Appearing on COMMUNITY CONNECTION on Monday, Bartlesville Police Chief Tracy Roles said the event is held each year during Peace Officer's Memorial Week to honor fallen law enforcement officers nationwide.
This year's ceremony will feature a special tribute to fallen Washington County Deputy Cpl. Kyle Davis, who was killed during an altercation at the Washington County Detention Center on March 25. Davis' name will be added to the memorial and the Bartlesville Police Department Honor Guard will present a wreath to the Davis family.
The memorial will be held at the Bartlesville Public Safety Complex, just north of the police facility at 615 S. Johnstone Ave. The public is invited to attend. Parking will be available at the Bartlesville Community Center, 300 S.E. Adams Blvd.
City Engineer Michah Siemers said the Hillcrest Drive road work is coming along well. He advises drivers to exercise patience and to watch your speed in the construction areas and along the detours.
