The community gathered at Hudson Lake over the weekend to pay respects to fallen Washington County Corporal Kyle Davis.

The Corporal Kyle Davis Memorial 3D Shoot and BBQ was held on Saturday. Bartlesville Police Sergeant Daniel Elkins said Deputy Davis used to love archery, so he got together with Reagan Ledbetter with News on 6 to put the event together. He said they wanted to honor the legacy and passion of Davis while celebrating his life.

$4,300 was raised for Deputy Davis' family. Davis leaves behind a wife and two children.

Myles Blair would win the long range shot competition. Blair received half of the funds raised during the event, but graciously donated his winnings back to the Davis family.

Sgt. Elkins said they wanted to do anything that they could to help the family get back on their feet. He said they wanted to help the family navigate their new direction, schedule, life-style and more to make their lives easier moving forward.

Two bows were raffled during the event. Patriot Auto Group and the Arrow Shop when in together on one bow. Kevin Moore went in on the second bow. A guided bow fishing trip was also donated and raffled off during the event.

Outside of the loss of Bartlesville Police Department K-9 Cooper in 2008, Sgt. Elkins said Deputy Davis was the first officer to be killed in the line of duty in Washington County in 82 years. Sgt. Elkins said the last officer to die in the line of duty was on October 1939 in the Ramona area. With this in mind, Sgt. Elkins said the passing of Deputy Davis is still tragic and that his sacrifice in the line of duty will always be remembered.

Sgt. Elkins said there are now talks between the Bartlesville Archery Club and the Davis family to create an annual Memorial Archery Shoot in honor of Deputy Davis. He said the memorial shoot would be an archery shoot that would just be appealing to the Davis family and the archery community.

Sgt. Elkins said the annual Memorial Archery Shoot would be a great way to continue the legacy of Cpl. Davis. He said the event will always remind the community of the ultimate sacrifice he paid.
