Central Middle School Moves to Distance Learning

Bartlesville’s Central Middle School will transition to Distance Learning for three school days due to high levels of student quarantines. The school’s students will be in Distance Learning beginning on Thursday, February 4 with in-person classes resuming on Tuesday, February 9. No other schools in the Bartlesville district are affected.

Early on February 3, 28% of the students at Central Middle School were on close contact quarantines with 2% of the students in isolation for COVID-19. While the district has not observed signs of school-based spread, the school will go into Distance Learning until most of the student isolations and quarantines are completed.

Central students have take-home Chromebooks to access online resources as directed by individual teachers. The building will be deep cleaned before many teachers and other site staff return on Thursday to facilitate Distance Learning. The district's Child Nutrition service will be running its usual meal bus routes, and there will be additional bus stops at Central during the Distance Learning period, with parents directed to the Bartlesville Child Nutrition Facebook page for details.

The school district continues to monitor all school sites for high levels of quarantines or signs of school-based spread that might lead to temporary Distance Learning periods. It urges everyone to wear a mask at school and in public, maintain their distance, and wash their hands. It also urges parents who have children in Distance Learning to monitor their interactions with others outside of their family in order to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

This sort of transition has been anticipated in the district's detailed pandemic procedures, which prioritize the safety of students, staff, and community members. The district is transparent about its process and provides a continually updated tally of quarantines and isolations at BPSLEARN.COM. Bartlesville Public Schools is grateful for the patience and cooperation of its patrons and staff in this challenging time.
