From the COVID-19 relief grant application process to job openings and the praising the work of the Bartlesville Development Authority, Bartlesville Ward 2 Councilor Paul Stuart covered a lot of ground Tuesday on COMMUNTIY CONNECTION

Stuart explained that the Bartlesville City Council recently voted in support of an application process for the City to access grant funding through the Oklahoma Department of Commerce for COVID-19 relief funding. As part of the formal application process, which is due Monday, Feb. 1st, the City is required to adopt a Citizen Participation Plan. The plan includes a public hearing, which will be held during a special City Council meeting that will be held tonight, Jan. 19th, at 7pm at City Hall.

Stuart said the funds could go towards utility assistance, rental assistance, nutrition assistance, and more as we continue to fight through the coronavirus pandemic.

Councilor Stuart passed along the quick reminder that because of the Monday  holiday, those whose trash was scheduled for Monday pickup will have their trash collected on Wednesday and that your coupon for one trip to the landfill is coming in your bill.

The city is hiring, according to Stuart. Applications and resumes for the city judge position are still being accepted. Other job openings include: fire fighters; part time library position; maintence workers; water plant operators; construction operators, laborers and crew leaders. More infomation on these positions can be found at https://www.cityofbartlesville.org/city-government/human-resources/job-listing/

Stuart said the recent community block grants have made way for improvements to Veterans Park upgrade. He also mentioned that construction is starting on the splash pad near the Pirate Ship at Johnstone Park and on water feature at Tower Center at Unity Square.

Stuart also support the election coming up soon to extend the one cent tax to fund the Bartlesville Develpoment Authority. Stuart reminded listeners of the authority's recents successed from bringing in Trutanium Labs to the old Siemens faciltiy to bringing in new retailers at the old KMart to even bringing in a movie company to Bartlesville while helping other businesses expand and grow while in some cases keeping local business afloat during the coronavirus pandemic.
