The Arvest Foundation recently announced a $5,000 contribution to The Journey Home.

Arvest local bank president Kim Adams presented the check to Brennen Bissinger, executive director of The Journey Home along with Doug Quinn, board vice president and Jane Hodges, board member.

In a statement, Adams said: “We are pleased to present this donation on behalf of the Arvest Foundation to support the compassionate services provided by The Journey Home.”

The funds will help cover operating expenses used to support end of life home care for individuals. The mission of The Journey Home is to provide a “home” for individuals with 30 days or less life expectancy who have limited financial and caregiver resources. The Journey Home provides, at no cost, a private room and a qualified team of trained staff and volunteers who help with bathing, feeding, laundry and housekeeping.

The patient’s hospice team provides physical, spiritual, emotional, and medical support. The combined care of the hospice team and The Journey Home staff and volunteers allow patients and family members to spend quality time with each other in a caring and dignified way at the end of life.

“We are so grateful for the support from the Arvest Foundation,” said Bissinger. “Arvest has supported our mission since our beginning, and we know this relationship will continue to grow. Our fundraising efforts have been very limited this year and this grant is going to help us with operating expenses. Thank you to the Arvest Foundation.”

The Arvest Foundation seeks to provide funding to grantees who are actively working to create positive change for others. Major areas of focus include: K-12 education, economic development, and enhancing the quality of life throughout the Arvest footprint.
